Team leader Dirk Nowitzki criticized Erick Dampier after Amare Stoudemire outscored the Dallas center 40-0 in Monday night's 127-102 Phoenix victory.
"He's a step slow on everything,'' Nowitzki said after the game. "He never got involved in the game. He has always been in foul trouble. The first series was the same thing. He gets a quick two fouls in the first two or three minutes, and we can't be aggressive any more. Then he gets the third foul and has to sit.''
"He can say what he wants,'' Dampier said. "We really didn't get a lot from anyone. This is not a one individual game. It's a team concept. We didn't play the way we are capable of playing, so for him to say something like that is totally stupid.''
I'm sorry, did that offend you, Dampier? Because I'll tell you what offends me: When Amare Stoudemire scores 40 points because our center sucks balls. Or how everytime you touch the ball, it slips through your butter fingers. Or how you somehow manage to pick up 2 fouls within the first 3 minutes of every game and wind up sitting on the bench most of the game. Or when your slow ass is the last person back up the court on defense.
And what really pisses me off is, with Shaq gone, you were supposed to be the "Best Center in the West". But so far, you've done nothing but get dogged by Yao Ming and Amare Stoudemire. Is this another self-proclaimed title like Stephon Marbury's "Best Point Guard in the League" or Ruben Patterson "The Kobe Stopper"? Because they both suck, too. That's why neither of them are in the playoffs.
Here's an idea: maybe instead of getting mad at Dirk, you should spend a little extra time practicing and bring your A game. You did that last year... or was that only because it was a contract year?
